Making long-term investments in Canadian small-medium sized businesses.
About Us
Malabar Capital is a private investment firm founded in 2022 by Nik Sinnhuber and Dahlia Aeta, an Ottawa based team with a passion for investing in Canadian businesses. We bring our entrepreneurial mindset, multi-asset class investing experience and hunger to learn to the heart of Malabar Capital.
As self-funded investors, our ethos is simple: we invest in resilient, cash flow generating businesses, with a persistent long-term view. Quick exits or drastic makeovers of successful businesses are not in our playbook. Instead, we respect and honor the hard work that has gone into making your business prosperous, and seek to amplify that success. A firm belief in the formidable impact of compounding returns and consistent cash flow underpins our approach, which aims to nurture the steady growth of our portfolio companies and ensure their enduring success.

Nikolas Sinnhuber
FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
In 2022, Nikolas Sinnhuber, together with his wife Dahlia Aeta, brought their shared vision to life, founding Malabar Capital. Benefiting from the discipline and professional expertise gained in large institutional investment settings, but moving beyond the usual limitations of those environments, this venture reflects Nik's investment philosophy. At Malabar Capital, Nik assumes the lead role in driving all investment activity.
After a 10 year career in finance, Malabar Capital marked the beginning of a purposeful journey to build a company that embodied his core investment principles. Most recently, Nik participated in managing close to $4 billion across diverse asset classes and notably developed and implemented a $750 million private debt strategy at the CBC Pension Fund, a Canadian entity overseeing $8 billion in assets. Nik holds a Bachelor of Arts with Joint Honors in Economics and Finance from McGill University and is a CFA Charterholder.
With an appreciation for the power of compounding returns, Nik is focused on nurturing a robust portfolio of value-oriented, cash-generating small-medium sized businesses that serve as the bedrock of the Malabar Capital. By emphasizing this foundation, Nik envisions shaping Malabar Capital into a growing long-term sustainable enterprise that also contributes to the prosperity of his local communities.
